ABOUT ED FARRÉS ESQ.
I graduated from law school and have been a trial attorney in Florida since 1995. I have tried over one hundred (100) cases to verdict throughout my legal career in both state and federal courts. I have represented and tried cases for both Plaintiffs and Defendants in personal injury matters (including premises liability, automobile negligence, personal injury protection, and defamation), property damage claims and commercial litigation cases. I have represented clients and participated in mediation for countless cases in the following areas of law: personal injury, automobile liability, uninsured/underinsured motorist, premises liability, wrongful death, product liability, property insurance claims, commercial transactions, declaratory actions, and civil litigation. I am licensed to practice law in both Florida and Massachusetts.
Aside from a law degree, I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting which I obtained in 1990 and a Master of Science degree in Taxation in 1992. I am also a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1992. After almost 28 years as a practicing trial attorney, I have found the mediation process to be
effective and an invaluable tool in bringing cases to resolution. Mediation affords the parties not only an insight into the opposing party’s position of the facts and issues involved in the case, but also allows them to dictate exactly how their case can resolve. I therefore decided to become a Florida Supreme Court Circuit mediator to assist others in having a fruitful and productive discussion with the hope of resolving their cases. My years of experience and educational background afford me a unique perspective to collaborate with the parties for a mutually beneficial resolution of their dispute.

I have found mediation to be most fruitful when the mediator has the parties participate in a meaningful discussion regarding the facts and issues, both favorable and unfavorable, of their cases. It is essential that a mediator is able to assist both sides in discussing the impact of those facts and issues on their respective positions and not merely relay numbers back and forth. Given my experience, I will guide the parties through discussions of said facts and issues in the case as well as assist in offering solutions and options for resolution, while concentrating on each parties’ goals and objectives. Additionally, I am fully bilingual and am able to conduct mediations in both Spanish and English.

Thank you for considering me as your mediator. I look forward to collaborating with you in an effort to resolve your cases to your satisfaction.
